The Career Center works to accommodate employer requests and tailor interview schedules to meet employer needs, including half day interviews, 30-45-90 minute interview slots. Please indicate any specific requests in the "Notes" portion of the request form in Handshake.

Most schedule formats allow for primary (preselect) and alternate candidates. Primary candidates are given access to your interview slots first. Alternate candidates can fill any remaining slots, if remaining slots are available after the primary sign up period.
*Please note: you do not have to select alternate candidates, but we encourage you to do so in order ensure your schedule is full as possible. Between applying for jobs and interview dates, it is likely that students will secure job or internship offers and no longer be seeking employment.

  • Upon approval of your interview request, students will be able to view your schedule and attached positions in Handshake. We strongly suggest that you attach position(s) to your interview schedule(s) 4 weeks in advance, but no later than 2 weeks from the resume submission deadline, so that students have time to apply.
  • Organizations will be given at least 3 business days to review the applicant bundle and decide on preselect and alternate candidates. Feel free to pass the names along to The Career Center Recruiting Team if you are unable to enter them into Handshake.
  • Preselect candidates will have 2 days to sign up for an interview time before the schedule is open to the alternate candidates.
  • Alternate candidates will have 1 day to fill any remaining slots on the schedule.
  • The sign up period will end and the schedule will be finalized 1-2 days before your interview date. Any changes must be communicated to The Career Center Recruiting as soon as possible, so tht the Handshake schedule is up to date and accurate.

Interview dates cannot be honored unless all job descriptions are received and candidates are selected by the stated deadlines. If you miss the appropriate deadlines, you may be asked to change the date of your recruiting visit.

We will sincerely miss having the chance to connect with you in-person, but we look forward to you successfully engaging with our students virtually!

Career Conversations

Employers are welcome and encouraged to hold Career Conversations, formerly known as coffee chats, during the recruiting season, especially throughout the spring semester. Career Conversations are 20- minute 1:1, 2:1, or 3:1 informal informational meetings for students learn more about your organization and open internship/full-time opportunities.

Once you decide on a date, you will need to put a request in on Handshake, detailing in the notes section your desire to hold Career Conversations and what block of times you would like to hold them. The conversations are scheduled via an “open” schedule and are filled on a first come, first served basis by any student who meets the criteria (class year, major, gpa, etc.) that you set. In order for students to gain access to the schedule and sign up for a slot, you must post a “job” for students to apply to/submit their resume. Please reach out to our team if you would like to see a sample Career Conversations job posting.
